About Us

Living Simply Lavender is a small business situated outside Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, Wales UK.

Our story began in 2019 having planted the lavenders. Lavandula Angustifolia (English) and Lavandula (x intermedia Lavandin hybrid) are grown, which are freshly harvested independently of each other during the summer months, being distilled to produce the therapeutic product, Lavender hydrosol. Our field is not open to the public.

Initially growing lavender was more of a personal mission, a project to reconnect with the artisan craft of distilling herbal plants that produced the aromatic distillate (not oil). This herbal plant had been used by our family ancestors for generations for a variety of treatments of the skin and other ailments due to its beneficial properties. They used the Welsh term ‘craidd’ when describing it. Which translates to reaching the core or ‘heart’ of an ailment. Lavender was just one of the herbal plants they used because of these useful properties:

  • Analgesic
  • anti-inflammatory
  • antiseptic
  • calming and relaxing
  • healing
  • sedative
  • stimulant

Our project has developed into a small business. We have found that our products have become increasingly popular as more and more people become familiar with its holistic properties, while reconnecting with historic uses and origins.

Today we turn to modern science and International Standards our ‘Hydrosol’ samples undergo Mass Spectrometry (MS) Analysis at a laboratory near us. This process identifies the concentration molecules (chemistry) of the plant trapped in the distillate suspension, which include organic compounds and micro parts of essential oil.

Safety Standards. We send samples for Cosmetics testing – these tests include microbial and challenge testing; they require Cosmetic Products Safety Assessments which can only be provided by a qualified and registered chemists and must fully comply with UK Government Regulations and EU Regulations if sold outside the UK.
